Virgin Atlantic Cargo has appointed Leisure Kargo as its new general sales agent (GSA) in Turkey, effective September 1.

Leisure Kargo’s primary office is located in Antalya, but the company will shortly open a secondary office in Istanbul.

Initial representation will cover exports from four departure points in Turkey: Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), Ankara (ESB), Izmir (ADB) and Antalya (AYT).

Leisure Kargo’s existing relationships with a number of airline partners will enable Virgin Atlantic to export cargo from Turkey and connect onto the VS network (flying network) in Brussels, Tel Aviv or a variety of regional UK gateways.

Steve Buckerfield, head of sales at Virgin Atlantic Cargo, said: “We are excited to start this new relationship with Leisure Kargo and to re-establish Virgin Atlantic Cargo representation in the Republic of Türkiye.  This is a very important cargo export market, and we look forward to building new customer relationships and opening up our network to Turkish exporters who I am sure will love the Virgin service.”

Zeki Güler, managing director, Leisure Kargo, added: “We’re excited to welcome Virgin Atlantic Cargo to Türkiye – MERHABA!  We are honoured to be appointed as the General Sales Agent for Virgin Atlantic Cargo.  This cooperation will open essential export opportunities for our valued customers to explore the brilliant network capabilities of Virgin Atlantic Cargo and our ambitious team look forward to using our local expertise to deliver an exceptional customer experience – we’re ready to go!”

Virgin Atlantic Cargo, which only added freighter operations in May, expanded its all-cargo network this month with a new service to Billund Airport.
