Rhenus Group has set up a new office in Chongqing, its twenty third location in China.

The new branch focuses on providing air and ocean as well as rail services and supports vertical markets which cover areas such as chemical products, automobiles, motorcycle parts, notebook computer parts and equipment.

The office in Chongqing, together with the current office in Chengdu, will extend the logistics service provider’s Greater China’s footprint and provide better local support for businesses operating in West China.

“Rhenus is committed to expanding our presence in Greater China as part of our on-going global growth strategy,” said Cliff Xu, chief executive of Rhenus Air & Ocean Greater China.

“Chongqing’s strategic location as a transformation hub and international gateway driven by innovation offers us an ideal opportunity to share our experience in multimodal and intelligent logistics with the companies here.”

With an established industrial system supported by the electronics, automotive, equipment, chemical engineering, materials, consumer goods, and energy industries, Chongqing has seen rapid growth based on a strategy of innovation-driven development led by big data intelligence, said Rhenus.

It achieved a regional GDP of $429.55bn USD in 2022, an increase of 2.6% over the same period of the previous year.
