Geodis adds new US gateways for e-commerce service

Geodis has added two new airport facilities in the US as it expands its direct-to-consumer cross-border delivery service.

The two new facilities are located at New York JFK International and Los Angeles International (LAX) and were opened to meet e-commerce volume growth at Geodis’ MyParcel business, which offers small parcel delivery to 27 European countries and Canada.

“With the addition of the two new facilities, Geodis will have more capacity to process and handle small parcel shipments on behalf of its customers to reduce first-mile costs and time in transit, particularly for its current service to Canada,” the freight forwarder said.

It added that they will also help as the company adds Australia, New Zealand and Mexico to the operation in the near future.

Michael Lamia, senior vice president of Geodis MyParcel and Geodis eLogistics, said: “Our new gateway facilities at JFK and LAX are the latest example of how we are continually expanding Geodis MyParcel’s reach and capabilities to best meet today’s evolving, complex and increasingly interconnected global market.

“Our gateway expansion offers customers a new way to unlock cross-border e-Commerce potential by reducing total time in transit and costs to key global markets.”

The addition of JFK and LAX follows on from the opening of the firm’s Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) gateway when the product was first launched in 2020.

The logistics firm said the three gateways have access to 42 weekly flights via Europe-bound passenger flights or Geodis’ own leased A330-300 full freighter aircraft into Amsterdam and London Stansted.

The service offers delivery in two to seven days from the US to end destination.
