Cargo operator ASL Airlines Belgium has extended its collaboration with Swissport Belgium at Liège Airport.

The partnership, which dates back to 2017, now covers all services including ramp handling, warehousing and customs clearance for general, perishable, and sensitive pharmaceutical cargo.

ASL Airlines Belgium operates cargo flights between Liège and China, the US and Canada and has a fleet of Boeing 737 and widebody open-nose 747-400ER aircraft.

It can carry oversized and special cargo, as well as general cargo, perishables, pharmaceuticals, and live animals. It also provides capacity for third-party airlines and clients.

Head of Swissport Cargo for Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland, Jeroen Giling, said: “Our expertise in handling many types of air cargo in large capacity and the team’s operational readiness and professionalism were determinant for client satisfaction and ultimately the extension of the long-standing partnership.”

Swissport’s global cargo chair, Dirk Goovaerts, added: “The extension of the contract with ASL Airlines Belgium marks the dedication of our team to provide best-in-class services. We are able to provide tailored, cost-effective services to our clients and remain their partner of choice.”

In 2022, Swissport in Liege handled over 21 weekly flights and over 140,400 tons of cargo for ASL Airlines Belgium, with the carrier accounting for almost half of all flights and cargo volumes at the airport.

Overall, the company provides ramp handling, and air cargo services in Liège, as well as managing several first and second-line air cargo warehouses totalling 26,000 sq m.

It also provides cargo handling at Brussels Airport where it manages a further 25,000sq m of warehousing, including the Swissport Pharma Center.
