Maersk Air Cargo continues to expand fleet and frequencies

Maersk Air Cargo has added an extra Boeing 767 freighter and boosted frequencies on transpacific and Asia-Europe flights.

The carrier said it would increase its transpacific service between Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport from three to six weekly rotations.

Its service calling Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), Incheon International Airport, Korea (ICN) and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, China (SHE) will go from two to three per week.

And at the same time, the service between Billund Airport, Denmark (BLL) and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) will increase from three to five weekly rotations.

The increased frequency was partly made possible by the delivery of the carrier’s latest 767 freighter.

The new aircraft will be directly operated by Maersk Air Cargo – the carrier also partners with Amerijet on flights – and is the fifth of six of the model ordered by the airline.

The shipping group-owned airline said that adding the extra flights would “plug a connectivity gap between the world’s three largest markets for ocean customers, North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific with new solutions for time-sensitive and high-value cargo”.

AP Moller Maersk global head of air Michel Pozas Lucic said: “The introduction of an additional aircraft together with a substantial increase in rotations will further expand our ability to service our customers with regular flights and controlled capacity while ensuring visibility, reliability, and resilience in their supply chains.

“At the same time, we are further strengthening our position as a truly customer-driven partner in the global airfreight market.”

The carrier, which launched operations last year, recently opened a new Chicago airfreight gateway facility.

Maersk also offers services to South Carolina, Korea and China operated by Miami-headquartered cargo airline Amerijet International.
