Flexport founder and former chief executive Ryan Petersen has joined a San Francisco-based venture capital firm that is a source of funding for the logistics technology platform.

He confirmed the move to Flexport investor Founders Fund in a post on his personal Twitter account.

According to Bloomberg, Trae Stephens, a Founders Fund partner, said: “We’ve always struggled to define the quintessential Founders Fund founder. Clearly, it’s Ryan.”

Peterson decided to step down from his role as chief executive with Flexport last year, handing over the reigns to former Amazon executive Dave Clark in March this year following a six-month handover period.

He then moved over to the role of executive chairman in March.
