Hactl and Lux-Airport sign pharma certification MoU

Lux-Airport and Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding which will create a trade lane with Good Distribution Practice certification between Luxembourg and Hong Kong.
At the Air Cargo Europe event in Munich, the two companies, along with Cargolux, Luxair Cargo and a Luxembourg government minister, signed an agreement to promote the transport of pharmaceutical products in accordance with the European Union and World Health Organization GDP certification.
The agreement includes the commitment to support the safe and secure movement of healthcare products between Hong Kong and Luxembourg, educate local and global businesses of the added value obtained through trade with GDP certified partners and verify that all participants in the chain of transportation monitor performance indicators and maintain a quality system in respect of their activities.
The two parties said the agreement was the first of its kind and would aim to ensure GDP compliance along the trade lane.
Lux-Airport chief executive Johan Vanneste said: "I am convinced this is a very interesting and unique development for shippers of valuable pharma shipments, and that it will stimulate traffic between Hong Kong and Luxembourg."
Hactl chief executive Mark Whitehead added: "This agreement between Lux-Airport and Hactl makes perfect sense as it enables us to create a GDP standard trade lane between us."
