Flying start for sun-powered car

A Dutch-built solar-powered car is defending its title in the World Solar Challenge 2015 in Australia thanks to AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC).
The Nuna Solar car, developed by the Nuon team at Delft University of Technology, started its journey on an ABC scheduled Boeing 747 freighter flight from Amsterdam to Hong Kong. The car, equipment and spare parts were transported in a specially designed crate.
The race starts in Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory on October 18 and ends a week later, 3,000km to the south in Adelaide.
The Nuon team said: “We were very pleased with the loading process and left the airport with full confidence that our precious vehicle will arrive in perfect condition in Hong Kong. After Hong Kong it will be transported Down Under to defend its world champion title.”
