Shippers prepared to pay more for greener airfreight

Shippers and forwarders are prepared to pay higher freight rates for environmentally-friendly air cargo.
That is the message from Lufthansa Cargo, which says that a number of shipper and freight forwarders have asked for a green rate quote for their airfreight shipments.
As consumers demand that the goods they buy have been produced and distributed with the least carbon dioxide emissions and greenhouse gases, so the air cargo industry: aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airports and forwarders have responded.
