European forwarders upbeat on airfreight volumes

Danske Bank’s monthly European Freight Forwarding Index for October indicates higher volumes compared with two months ago.
The current airfreight index of 54 – a measure of European freight forwarder market sentiment – is set against expectations of 57 for November, thus suggesting higher volumes in two months.
The index by the Danish bank is based upon a survey of forwarders across the European Union, with values above 50 indicating expansion among participating companies.
The main multimodal conclusion from survey – covering air, sea and road freight transport – indicates a slight increase in volumes in September compared with two months ago.
Said Danske Bank: “The overall index of current volumes came in at 54 compared with last month’s figure of 51. Expectations suggest an increase in volumes in two months, where the result came in at 55 for November (last year expectations for November was 60).”
