Sao Paulo-Guarulhos airport offers incentive programme for all-cargo operators

Sao Paulo-Guarulhos (GRU) airport is offering new all-cargo operators a 100% landing fee exemption for a year as long as they meet certain criteria.
The Brazilian airport said that as part of its GRU Incentives Program, cargo-only operators would be exempt from landing fees from March 27 of this year to March 25 in 2017 as part of efforts to encourage new international cargo services to use the facility.
“Airlines interested in joining the programme must meet minimum requirements, like operating a new regular route between GRU Airport and a country in Africa, North America, Asia, Europe or Oceania,” the airport operator said.
“In order to qualify to the incentive, operations must be outside peak hours and take place at least once a week with monthly regularity of at least 80%, according to Hotran planning.”
The incentive comes after the airport recorded a 25,000 tonne decline in cargo volumes last year.
Despite the overall decline, it managed to grab marketshare on international traffic for the Brazilian market, as its share increased to 38% from 36% a year earlier.
“The goal with bringing new cargo flights is to offer a complete logistics solution to customers that already operate with GRU Airport, as many types of cargo can only be transported by cargo only aircrafts,” it added.
Applicants must apply to the incentive by e-mail at [email protected].
The incentive programme document can be requested by email and will soon be available on the website www.grucargo.com.br.
