Rio joins Delta Cargo’s Pharma 4 club

Rio de Janeiro became Delta Cargo’s newest Pharma 4 station on June 13, able to handle goods in the 15-25 degrees Celsius temperature range.
Previously certified to handle Pharma 1-3 products only, Rio de Janeiro is the first station in Latin America with Pharma 4 certification and forms part of the US carrier’s Variation Pharma programme.
Variation Pharma is a SkyTeam Cargo product designed specifically for the transport of shipments requiring temperature control and monitoring, including vaccines, medicines and pharmaceuticals.
“Expanding our Pharma 4 stations to include Rio de Janeiro echoes our commitment to globalisation and is a direct response to customer feedback,” said new president of Delta Cargo, Gareth Joyce.
“Delta Cargo has 49 stations around the globe certified to handle one or more Variation Pharma products, 16 of which are certified for Pharma 4. Our vast network will connect Brazil to the world.”
A pharma desk at Delta Cargo’s Minneapolis customer service centre monitors shipments throughout, part of the carrier’s focus on creating a pharma network with dedicated facilities and qualified staff.
It has introduced a robust training programme to ensure that everyone involved in the process has the necessary qualifications.
