Brussels Airlines’ freight volumes slip

Revealing its traffic figures for the month of May, Brussels Airlines’ freight load factor fell to 63%, down by 12% year on year.
However, the carrier said that the fall can be explained by the higher freight capacity available thanks to the opening of its new Toronto route in early April.
Moreover, perhaps because freight volumes on this new route, served five times a week by A330 aircraft, remain only in what the carrier calls a “start-up phase”, cargo traffic as measured in millions of freight ton-kilometres flown was down by 10.5% year on year in May, falling to 16,259.
Brussels Airlines offers cargo capacity on all its flights. The airline is a member of the Lufthansa Group.
