Good day for American in London

American Airlines Cargo shipped a record 575,000lbs (260,000kg) of freight and mail from London Heathrow (LHR) in a single day on Sunday 31 July, setting a new daily record for the station.
American Airlines, which completed a merger with US Airways last year, broke its previous daily record in London in October 2015, when it shipped 565,857lb (256,668kg).
An impressive 88.2% of all available cargo positions were also loaded and American also achieved a 99% passenger load factor on the same day.
“All departments exhibited a great level of coordination needed to maximize lift,” said the carrier in a statement.
Managing director of cargo sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Tristan Koch said the carrier had seen heavy demand for space from all the origins that support Heathrow flights, as well as cargo from across the UK.
He added: “Our Operations teams did an exemplary job in rising to the challenge, highlighting the great collaboration between the ramp and Cargo departments."
