Lufthansa to acquire balance of Brussels Airlines

German flag-carrier Lufthansa has confirmed that it intends to exercise its call option to acquire the remaining 55% of shares in SN Airholding, parent company of Lufthansa Group member Brussels Airlines, that it doesn’t currently hold.
SN Airholding is a Belgian holding consisting of over 30 shareholders concentrated on the air transport sector. The holding is made up of a range of companies, financial institutions and investment groups.
The acquisition is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2017.
Brussels Airlines operates a fleet of regional aircraft, Airbus 319/320 Family aircraft and widebody A330s.
Yesterday (September 27), Brussels Airlines confirmed that on March 31 next year it will begin flying to the Armenian capital of Yerevan, further expanding its network that has expanded in recent times to include other locations such as Toronto, Canada.
Brussels Airlines is also to inaugurate services to Mumbai in March next year, forming its first link to an Asian destination.
The carrier will fly A330 equipment to the Indian city’s Chhatrapati Shivaji airport five times a week.
