Volcano alert for North Pacific

Airlines have been warned of possible disruption following a major eruption of an Alaskan volcano.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory reported that the Bogoslof Volcano had erupted on the night of Tuesday 7 March for three hours, sending an ash cloud up to 35,000 feet.
It was Bogoslof’s 36th eruption since mid-December and the first since February 19. While it now appears to have ceased, the observatory added that the volcano could erupt again at any time.
Bogoslof is 850 miles southwest of Anchorage, in the Bering Sea north of the Pacific Ocean.
