AMI and Crowley sign mutual deal

US-based Crowley Logistics has signed a reciprocal partnership with airfreight wholesaler Air Menzies International, to enhance offerings to each other’s customers.
Under the deal, the 400,000 cu ft CrowleyFresh facility near Miami International Airport will become the centralised consolidation facility for AMI’s Miami Gateway operation between Latin America, the US, and the rest of the world.
It will enable AMI to add temperature-controlled wholesale freight services to its portfolio. Crowley will provide AMI with receiving, validation and palletisation of all cargo, as well as daily local truck deliveries to and from Miami.
Crowley will also become a US Transportation Security Administration Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF), enabling it to provide pre-screening services for AMI and its own customers’ export cargo.
This will result in "a more streamlined and cost-effective process" for air cargo departing on passenger flights, bypassing the busy and more expensive on-airport screening facilities.
AMI, in turn, will give Crowley access to its wholesale airfreight services from the US to key markets in Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and Australasia, allowing it to offer improved capacity, frequency and rates.
Crowley senior vice president and general manager, logistics and commercial services, Frank Larkin, said: “Our new collaboration with AMI represents a significant enhancement to our air freight service offerings.
“For the first time, we will be able to offer customers spot moves from AMI’s other key US gateways in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, into our key markets in Central America and the Caribbean.”
AMI’s vice president US, Mike Pattinson, added: “We are very happy to be working with Crowley, and gaining access to their impressive infrastructure here in Miami. Our capabilities are complementary, and will enable both companies to enhance the quality and scope of services to their customers while preserving AMI’s precious neutrality.”
