Christmas comes early for San Bernardino as UPS increases flights

San Bernardino International Airport has signed an agreement with UPS to increase the number of seasonal cargo flights from four per week in 2016 to up to 18 each week for this year’s holiday season.
They will include services to the main UPS hub at Louisville, Kentucky, along with its regional centre at Rockford, Illinois, using Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft.
UPS south California district president Tom Cuce said: "This is our busiest time of year, and with the huge spike in holiday shipments, we need additional capacity to deliver for our customers. UPS expects to deliver about 750 million packages globally between Black Friday and New Year’s Eve, 5% up on 2016.”
City mayor and president of the San Bernardino International Airport Authority, Carey Davis, added: "We are happy to see UPS return with even more flights. UPS is already a major employer in the region, and will be hiring 200 people from our community to support these new flights."
Located 60 miles east of Los Angeles, San Bernardino International Airport recently opened a new cargo facility located adjacent to 60 acres of aircraft ramp.
