China’s Northwest Regional Administration of Civil Aviation Administration has approved the establishment of China Northwest International Cargo Airlines, a cross-border venture supported by a mix of public and private investment.

The lion’s share of the total RMB1bn registered capital comes from Shaanxi Provincial Communication Construction Group, which is investing 50%. YTO Cargo Airlines (part of YTO Express Group), Shaanxi West Ham District Metro Airport Development and Construction Group and Western Airport Group are putting in 20%, 20% and 10% respectively.

The Administration confirmed that the new airline will operate out of Xian Xianyang International Airport, providing domestic and international cargo and mail transportation services (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) using Boeing 737 aircraft.
