Latam Cargo continues its pharma expansion

Latam Cargo has continued to expand its pharma services, adding a passive option to its London Heathrow flights.
The airline said that Heathrow was already included in its active pharma product but that from October customers using the airport would also be able to use its passive service.
Latam Cargo senior sales manager Europe, Middle East and Africa said: "Most of the pharmaceutical products that the United Kingdom produces require temperature control, which calls for high quality standards along with strategic routes to reduce their transfer times.
"In this sense, Brazil is a gateway to Latin America which offers more efficient times, in line with what the product requires."
Latam’s passive service includes an infrastructure that allows the product to maintain a temperature range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, the airline will incorporate data loggers and blankets to all shipments to maintain the integrity of the products.
The addition of London to its passive network is the latest in a series of developments targeting the pharma market.
In September, the airline added a freighter flight between Brussels and Montevideo that would cater for pharma customers, in August it opened a pharma hub in Copenhagen and in January it achieved CEIV at its Miami operation.
