HAHN Airport is to invest €30 million (US$39.9 million) in developing its cargo potential.
The transport minister, Hendrik Hering, of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which is a majority shareholder of the airport, announced the investment this week and said the airport – currently the fifth largest German cargo airport – has the potential to become Germany’s third or fourth largest.
The investment is earmarked for ramp space, terminal expansion and a maintenance centre.
“We designed the workflow so that the impact on flight operations as low as possible,” said Hering.
