Jettainer lands Jet Airways ULD contract

ULD logistics management company Jettainer has signed a five year cargo services contract with Jet Airways of India.
Lufthansa-subsidiary Jettainer sees the contract – the first co-operation with an Asian airline – as a “gateway to Asia”, with many carriers in the region monitoring the success of the project.
Jettainer managing director Casten Hernig said: "After a roll-in phase, which started in February, all operations are running smoothly and efficiently, with Jettainer operators assisting the airline in their day-to-day operations.”
The outsourcing arrangement includes the handling of nearly 1,300 ULDs, of which almost 600 are lightweight containers of the AKE LW design.
The Indian airline is replacing “a fair share” of its old lower deck cargo containers as part of the deal, providing environmental benefits and lower fuel consumption.
Jettainer currently takes care of a fleet of more than 70,000 ULDs for 14 airlines.
