Cathay updates cargo handling software

Cathay Pacific Airways has selected Cargospot software from Luxembourg-based IT supplier CHAMP Cargosystems SA as the backbone of the airline’s new cargo IT platform, the company announced on October 8.
To be known as CSS, the new platform will replace Cathay’s existing cargo management system which was developed in-house. Director Cargo James Woodrow said the change of technology would ‘support the continued growth of our airline and help to meet the expanding expectations of our cargo customers’.
The roll-out follows a six month design phase, during which CHAMP has been working with consultants from PWC and SITA’s ATI Cloud service to form what the supplier’s Vice President for Global Commercial Operations James Fernandez described as ‘a world class team to support a world class carrier’. CEO John Johnston added that ‘CHAMP and Cathay Pacific have a common “can-do” mindset which will help in the successful delivery of the project over the coming months.’
