Evans to step down from Swiss WorldCargo next year

Oliver Evans will step down as chief cargo officer and head of Swiss WorldCargo at the end of September 2015 to pursue self-employment in the air logistics industry on his way into retirement.

Chief executive Harry Hohmeister said in a statement: “Oliver has been instrumental in setting a clear course for our airfreight activities, keeping away from the mass-volume business to become a global leader in transporting the kind of high-value and care-intensive consignments for industrial sectors like the pharmaceutical industry in which Swiss companies are also global leaders.

“This has also meant that all the airfreight of Swiss WorldCargo is carried almost exclusively in the holds of SWISS and Edelweiss passenger aircraft on their scheduled air services.
“And this in turn has helped develop a cargo network that currently extends to more than 150 destinations in over 80 countries. This comprehensive flown network is further supplemented by a number of road feeder services, primarily in Europe.”
Hohmeister added: "We are very sorry to see him go; but we fully appreciate his desire for a change after all these years . The search for Oliver’s successor has also been initiated.”
He said that Swiss International Air Lines and Swiss WorldCargo “remain fully committed” to the course set by Evans and his team.
